April Allen- Troop Leader
My name is April Allen. I am the troop leader of the best little Girl Scout troop in town. God put a vision in my heart through my daughters to train girls up for His glory using the tool of Girl Scouts. I joined the Scouts in fall of 2008. Never having been in Scouts before, I continue to learn what it means to train the girls to lead through service. I started the mulitlevel troop when my younger daughter was ready for daisies. The older girls are so amazing that I couldn't leave them, so now we are two levels. The journey has been rewarding. I am from Ohio originally. I moved to Virginia in 1997 and met the man of my dreams in 1999. We were married in 2000. We have 2 daughters. I work full time as a retail manager at a coffee shop and snack bar at Randolph College. I like cycling, hiking, reading, Christian music, and anything outdoors. I have cycled across America 6 times sharing the Gospel. I have been on missions trips to Haiti, Jamaica and Costa Rica. I love the girls in my Girl Scout Troop. Their energy is amazing and ability to learn is astounding. I attend Calvary Chapel in Lynchburg, VA, where I serve in the children's ministry.
Amanda Hoffard (AJ)- Coleader
I am originally from Illinois. I moved to Virginia in 2000 and I work for Aramark at Randolph College. I serve in my church's nursery program with toddlers. I have one dependant, a dog named Angel, that I adopted in February of 2009. I am our outdoors/ camping expert and try to add life to our meetings. I do most of the leading for the Junior level. Because I am not a mom to any of the girls, I can act more like a kid with them. I like outdoor activities, hiking, taking walks, and cycling.
